Star Trek: The Original Series Stillness

Hello sttos_stills community!

We've been on hiatus for many months now. This past August, I asked if there was interest to jump-start the community again, and I received only ONE reply. So, I did not restart the community at that time.

If you are still watching and interested in making original Star Trek icons in this community, PLEASE leave a comment, and answer this short poll. I would be more than happy to continue the comm and get it started again if there is interest!

As I had posted before, I had suggested moving this challenge into an "open-challenge" community, in which I would post a challenge/idea/prompt every week and people could submit to it or use it as a muse to create icons however they'd like. Instead of being a challenge community in which we vote and receive banners, it would be an idea/share community.

There seem to be a number of these types of icon sites already in existence for the Trek community, and I don't believe this group would be particularly unique. If you have a different thought, though, I would love to hear it!

Please comment with your thoughts and opinions here. I have always held that I want this to be a group effort, so I will take all comments into careful consideration. Thank you!

We have NO entries. I've already extended this for one week, so if there is still no participation tonight then I will likely place the community on hiatus.

I'd like to ask for some feedback before I do so, however. Is is the challenges that have not been interesting? Is there no interest in the original series for iconing? Please let me know what you think - I am always open to ideas and suggestions! Post here or message me. Thanks!

Welcome back, everyone! Happy 2012! I hope everyone had a nice hiatus and a lovely holiday season. Let's start off the new year with a few polls. Please participate, it will really help!

Well I've received some great comments, which I really appreciate. I'm glad to know so many folks are still interested in the community, and I totally understand about being busy.

I'd hate to have to put sttos_stills on hiatus, so I think I'm going to opt for extended challenges for a while. Instead of week-long challenges (which I know can be hard to accomplish), or even 2-week long ones, I'm going to try three or four week ones. That'll allow for more time to complete challenges and you can submit more than just five!

To start us off, I'm going to post a new challenge here that will run through October. Check back VERY SOON for the Star Trek original series challenge! :D

Unfortunately, we did not receive enough icons to vote on Harry Mudd this round. : ( Hopefully we'll have better luck with upcoming challenges, and as the holidays continue!

I want to thank blueleopard87 for submitting a great icon this round!

We will not be voting this round, as we only have 3 icons. But I wanted to share them with everyone anyway! : )

Would you like a mod's choice selection every week?

Hello all! I'm Sally, and I've taken over sttos_stills for nekhbet_ariane. I run trekicontest, so I've got some comm experience behind me. I'm excited to keep this comm going, and I hope you are as well!

I've not made many dramatic changes to the comm, but have changed/expanded some of the profile. Please feel free to check it out, and comment if you have any questions or issues you'd like me to address.

Mostly, I've changed the schedule to make it a little easier to coincide with trekicontest, which will help me out in running sttos_stills. Challenges will be posted on Sunday and remain open for one full week, closing the following Sunday. Voting will be posted after a challenge has closed and remain open until the following Friday.

I will continue to run episode and character-based challenges, with thematic challenges thrown in there. Would you like those to remain on the same schedule? I'm inclined to mix things up, and I'd love to have suggestions from anyone!

Also, I've clarified that members may participate in challenges, but there's no open posting. It just makes it a little easier to organize. Also, ANYONE (members or interested parties) may vote in challenges. Dreamwidth members are very welcome to participate, please just message me, so I know, since DW can't join comms here on LJ.

Anyone have any questions or comments for me? I'd love some suggestions for challenges as well. Please please please let me know. I took this over so the comm wouldn't die, and I really hope there are lots of still interested members. I look forward to lots of original Trek! :D
